Posted: 01 Nov 2019 at 3:50pm

Hello,
i'm tring to make a raid 0 with 3 SSD samsung 860 EVO that tested 1 by one and are capable of something like 500 MB/s R/W sequential.
When i make the array, doesn't matter the stripe size, i can reach only 750 MB/s.
I expected to reach the DMI interface cap that should be around 1.6GB/s, at least in sequential read / write
Looks like there is a bottleneck somewhere but i can't find where.

I've already:
- selected SSD on bios sata devices.
- installed latest intel RST Versione driver 17.7.0.1006 07/08/2019

Can someone help please?

p.s. sorry for my bad english

Dear RedFish,

Sorry for my mistake about BIOS version, BIOS P4.30 is still under testing and will upload to ASRock website soon.
We also checked with BIOS P4.20, two VEGA 56 works fine with Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ac.

Regarding your case, please help to do the following verify.
1.     Update BIOS to P4.20.
2.     Enter BIOS once to check the BIOS version.
3.     Clear CMOS to load BIOS default.
4.     Install one stick memory at each slot to check.

Thank you!
Yours truly,

Have upgraded Deskmini 110 to 8.1, but notice the TPM is now not found in Trusted Computing in UEFI. Think another UEFI fix needed from ASRock

I am planning a new PC build with a 9900KS and Z390 Taichi. I see that the board needs a BIOS update (4.20) to support the 9900KS. If it so happens that I get a board with an earlier version of the BIOS, will it be able to successfuly POST so that I can update the BIOS? If not, are there any other workarounds to this besides temporarily using an older CPU to update the BIOS or waiting for Taichi boards with 4.30 BIOS factory-preinstalled?

Look at the QVL list for your board for the answer to the question.

You will have to use another cpu to flash to the latest bios version if the board does not come with 4.20. Usually they come with the first release out of the box.

Intel Motherboards : AS Z77 Extrem4 + M.2 SSD Bios support version

Hi Folks,

I have a question regarding the Bios version to support M.2 SSD on AS Extreme4.

In the official website of ASrock they shared with Bios version 2.90P which Supports NVMe Configuration, however in some of the threads, users adviced to update BIOS to 2.90Q.

What is the difference between 2.90P & 2.90Q ? To be honest I flashed both of them into my Bios but I was hoping to see the CSM option in the bios settings which was suggested in some of the forums.

In both flashed bios version, I didn't see that option and I am wonder if my MOBO will be able to detect my M.2 SSD on PCIe adapter and install windows10 on it.

Please advise me if I should flash the version 2.90P from the ASrock official website. Does the absence of the CSM in bios settings should not be a concern? I would be using the UEFI boot mode to trigger the M.2 SSD drive and install windows.

I didn't do anything yet, I am waiting for some advice/comment on the subject.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I have just upgraded my build to a Z390 Tacihi Ultimate with Intel 9600k processor. Everything is working fine with all cores overclocked to 5Ghz.

The installation and setup was done on a hdmi screen with the integrated graphics.

After that everything is finished I wanted to add a thunderbolt 3 AIC card from Asrock.

I did the following:
- Connected the Thunderbolt 3 AIC card to the last PCI slot
- Connected large displaypor from the Thunderbolt card to the large displayport connector in the integrated GPU
- Connected the internal cable between the card and the MB
- Connected a thunderbolt 3 monitor with a thunderbolt 3 cable.

Without doing anything in the BIOS its working. I'm just typing on it now.

But I can't get 5K. As soon as I enable the "Thunderbolt discrete" option in the bios my computer wont start. I need to reset the bios to make it work.

What is going on?

Do I need to enable in the Bios to get the full interface performance?

Right now I can only us my 5k monitor in 4K resolution.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi guys,

Where do you guys find the CSM for z77 Extreme4? I have installed 2.90P first and didn't see it in the Boot settings at the bottom. Then I installed the 2.90Q and also cannot find it.

I didn't have any issues flashing the Bios as later the Bios version says 2.90Q. Im confused why I can't see the CSM option in my Bios.

Should I be concerned? I am about to install my M2. SSD + PCIe adapter this week.

I've been trying to install Windows from a UEFI boot media. If I disable CSM the PC gives 5 long beeps and resets the CSM to enabled.

I'm using the latest UEFI firmware. I've tried Rufus and the Windows creation tool to create the USB. I've reset the UEFI settings to default.

I still can't get PC to boot to UEFI mode only legacy.

Any ideas on how to get UEFI boot to work?

"RLGL" thank you for the answer

he's not on the list

so I have to understand that the budget ASRock Z390 Pro4 for $ 120 got support for i9-9900KS

and my strong ASRock Z370 Taichi for $ 240 no longer deserve?

I have tried to get an M2 NVME drive to be recognized using the guides I've found. As of yet no luck. I am using a pcie card with the M2 mounted on the card. I did get a 500 gig (same brand HP) to be recognized. I can't remember for the life of me how I did it. I need to expand my boot drive so this is a 2TB drive.

PCIe SSD's are solid state drives which do not use the Motherboards SATA Chipset interface to communicate between the SSD and the Windows File system.

They have their own storage controller built into the SSD, which should not be confused with the standard SSD controller chip that all SSDs use. The storage controller in PCIe SSDs uses a driver that is either provided by the manufacturer or by the OS itself. It has to be installed by the SSD user.

PCIe SSDs are not SATA drives, though some may share one or more aspect with SATA drives.

There are a number of ways you can connect a PCIe SSD to your Motherboard:

A Standard PCIe slot. (One that is at least x4)
An M.2 slot.
