Finally I bought a second board and this time the adapter was included. After my test I found out that the first board is defective. Asrock should correct the manual or even better... never build such a board layout again.

I have exactly the same problem on Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite.
Wrote to Gigabyte support pointing to this thread and this one:

For now I didn't get any satisfactory answer.
I suggest you guys do the same and open support cases with the manufacturer, maybe then they "hear" us.

ozgrunt I'll try your suggestion though my computer already never goes to sleep.

I am looking to buy a z490m extreme4 motherboard but before i do, does anyone know if i can install windows 10 pro and boot on a raid 1 partion built on m.2 nvme drives?

if yes, does anyone have the steps?

Hello everyone, i found on https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z270%20Extreme4/index.pl.asp#Storage
that my motherboard supports Seagate drive with PCIe4 x4 interface.

However my motherboard Asrock Z270 Extreme4 has M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x4 what we can read from official user's manual.

My question: does my motherboard can achieve full speed of 5000 MB/s Read from avaiable in Seagate FireCuda 520 SSD or information from the website means that it will work, but with bottleneck of 3rd generation speed that oscillates about 3500 MB/s read?

Maby there is a mistake, and there should be information for PCIe3 x4 interface in that place. Seagate has Gen 3 FireCuda drive so maby it's only transposed digits.

Hello there,
there is no motherboard named "z490m extreme4" i suppose you mean "Z490 Extreme4", if so you got there 2 Ultra M.2 (PCIe Gen3 x4 & SATA3), so you can install two identical M.2 drives which is needed for RAID 1.

Here is official RAID Installation Guide from Asrock attached to this motherboard :

i put a samsung 960 evo m.2 drive into this board using a m.2 to pcie adapter. it is on pcie5.

benchmark tests this around 2100-2700 MB/s, but i see people on amazon get 3000 or so. relatively speaking vs sata ssd that's still pretty fast.

i've also tested it in safe mode to try to make sure as little as possible activity is going on during a test.

on top of a slight benchmark test concern...

if i have this hooked up to a pcie slot am i sacrificing the throughput of my nvidia 1070 by occupying pcie lanes? maybe it is just a matter of which trade off you prefer.

Got a brand new PC with ASRock z490M-ITX/ac and inTel 10900T (T!!! No Noise fanless)
Installation without problems on UEFI Standards. But: Only 1.9GHz

Then problems began.

Changing Only TurboBoost to Activated (UEFI BIOS) let windows break down before first screen, continuous reboots. Activated Turbo Boost 3.0, 3.0 alone, all other features, all features alone... Nothing helps out. When you activate TurboBoost, System is crashing. In alls other cases, PC works on 1.9GHz.

Even new system-setup (from scratch) with activated TurboBoost breaks down after first reboot (Windows starts up, possibility to install Motherboard-INFs, changes nothing).

Only possibility ist to deactivate TurboBoost and work with a machine-speed of the last century. for >1000??

BFB can be an alternative? How to activate with 10900T?
What if TurboBoost 3.0 is activated without "TurboBoost". This changes - what? Did not see any performance-boost.


Anyone who knows what to do?
