Dear Chasd9,

Thank you for posting your query to the ASRock forum.

Since you have a PCIe type M.2, connecting the M.2 to the M.2_2 slot will not affect any SATA ports.

Dear Entram,

Thank you for posting your query to the ASRock forum.

Regarding your question, if the PCIe slot is
--> Occupied with one graphics card --> single at x16 (PCIE1);
--> Occupied with two PCIe devices --> dual at x8 (PCIE1) / x8 (PCIE4);

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

This doesn't answer my question at all. Are you saying if I use any NVME at all in my THOUSAND DOLLAR motherboard my graphics card goes into 8X speed?

Dear Entram,

Thanks for the reply.

NVMe M.2 will not affect the lanes of the PCIe slots.

The information above is just a reference that if there are two PCIe cards plugged to the PCIe slots, the graphics card will run at x8.

With thanks,

I have a Z270 gaming and when I turn on the power supply the RGB lights on the board come on, but not the power or reset button. It will not power up. It has been running fine for almost a year until now. Is this a power supply problem or something else?

Hi All,
I have a PC which I have had for 3 years and it has been working fine until last week when it just stopped. On pressing the power button the PC powers ON but immediately stops, the display on the motherboard showing a zero before it turned OFF. I have removed the graphics card which made no difference. I then removed the two sticks of RAM and restarted the PC. This time it starts and gets to code 53 and stays ON. Searching Google shows that it requires RAM to be installed which is understandable. Next I inserted one of the RAM sticks in all the slots one at a time. They all give the same code of 19 before turning off. Now if I put two sticks into the appropriate slots then I get back to the PC turning on and then immediately turning off. So I thought it may be a RAM issue but I am not an expert so just want to confirm if it is ram before I go out and buy something. Anyone able to help, please.

Pull the CPU, clean the contacts on it with a q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol and
reinstall it. The 00 code means CPU installation/no CPU error. Also check for any
bent pins in the socket.

You may also want to test the system with a different PSU, more often than not when
issues pop up after a prolonged period of stable use it is the PSU dying.

I don't understand the reasoning for cleaning the CPU. It hasn't been touch. You mention 00 but it was only 0 and I would expect 0 to be the first number to appear. I don't think this is an error. I will have to open the PC up and rebuild just to be safe but I really don't see there being dirt which suddenly made the computer stop working.

I've just discovered that USB 2 devices will not work in the USB 3 port on the front of my PC. Any USB 2 device plugged in to the USB 3 port causes Windows (10 Pro 64-bit) to repeatedly display the "USB Device Not Recognized" message. This port is connected to the USB3_5_6 header on the motherboard. A USB 3 device I have (Sabrent SATA-USB3 enclosure) is detected fine. Also, a USB 2 device plugged in to a USB 3 port on the back works OK.

Any suggestions?

Matt

Corrosion can form on any bare contact in your system, particularly where humidity
comes into play.

I got the motherboard, CPU, RAM, etc. today.
I assembled everything, but the motherboard keeps beeping (continuously).
I dissassembled and reassembled everything 3 times, but no luck.
Any idea what the issue could be?
Continuous beeping isn't listed in any ASRock beeping codes list I managed to find.

Thank you..

The continuous beeping is a RAM related issue.

After various tests, I found out that the computer will only start if I have one memory stick installed, moreover in Slot B and not A, since if I install it in sloat A I still get the continuous beeping.
Same goes with both memory sticks installed.

Moreover, the BIOS shows the "Auto" memory speed to be setup at 2133Mhz, whereas the memory is 2666Mhz. The XMP profile shows 2666Mhz.

The memory is compatible with both the CPU and the motherboard: Corsair CMK256GX4M8A2666C16

Is it a faulty motherboard?
Or should I try to install different RAM?
