Subject: Z77 Extreme4 p2.90Q wont boot uefi usb

I broke my bcd file and have been trying to fix it but nothing was working and then I found to fix I had to boot with a uefi drive.
I swapped out my win7 recovery disc for a uefi formatted by rufus usb but it wont boot it.
If i select the uefi: usb stick option it just flashes the screen and nothing happens.
If i select usb: usb stick it says theres nothing on there!
Why wont the asrock uefi setup utility open my uefi bootable media?

I haven't heard of issues running Windows 10 with that CPU, but I can tell you that you won't be overclocking anything on a B series motherboard. You'll need a Z87 or Z97 motherboard to be able to overclock that CPU.

Your PCIe SSD drive may not show in the Storage Configuration screen or Boot Order List, but make sure your Windows Installation Media (Whether USB or Optical Drive) does show in the Boot Order list. You should see UEFI: <Installation Media Device Name> entry in the list. ... You must use the one with the UEFI prefix.

Booting from another device and trying suspend-to-ram mode shows that the i750 device does not come back properly.

After using UBU to update the integrated RST blobs (also did the integrated graphics blobs and latest microcode updates), the system now resumes from sleep.

For anyone trying NVME+Asrock z77 extreme4, consider trying the attached bios. As usual with these sorts of things, your hardware, your problem if anything goes wrong.

Make sure all app updates are installed, and then check whether the camera works in other applications. If the problem persists, power off and restart your device. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try clearing the camera app's cache: ... Tap Storage, and then tap Clear cache.

Hey Guys,

since a few days I have the problem, that shuting down windows doesnt shut down the Mainboard aswell. After windows is shut down the Mainboard stays on showing debug code 05.

Also its starting kinda slow, usually it took ~10s to show the BIOS logo. Now it takes ~35s to show the logo.
Since its behaving strange, when I boot it its stuck on debug code 02 for a few seconds, then continues until its stuck on debug code 04 for a few seconds. After that it continues again and immediately shows the BIOS logo.
Same behaviour with/without XMP Profile.

After that everything is running normally.

Thanks in Advance

BroLuke

I'm considering finally making the move from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and would like some advice on which drivers I'll need to install and where to get them.

I'm planning to do a clean install of Windows 10 rather than an upgrade install. I'm probably going to take the opportunity to change to a larger SSD for the boot drive (500 GB instead of current 120 GB).

I'm just using the basic Z77 Extreme6 onboard audio, video, and LAN.

Asrock has Win 10 x64 drivers for Realtek audio, SATA3 drives, Intel Management Engine, and the "INF driver" which I assume is the chipset driver. There are a few other utilities as well as something called "Restart to UEFI." What's that and do I need to install it?

One of the other Win 10 downloads is the "ASRock 3TB+ Unlocker utility." What does this do?

There were more drivers for Windows 7, including Intel and Etron USB 3.0 drivers and a Broadcom LAN driver. Are these all "in box" for a clean Windows 10 install? If not, I assume I'll have to find them from Intel, Etron, and Broadcom.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

P.S. I meant to include that I'm still using the BIOS version from my inital install years ago: UEFI version P1.50. Do I need to update that before doing anything else?

Windows 10 should have all the drivers you need to get every thing working.
If you want to install the suggested drivers off the asrock site you can.
But everything should work without them. Your bios should be fine as well.

Thanks.

I would have guessed that Windows 10 had the necessary drivers, but it's good to have confirmation. And considering that the drivers on the Asrock site are 4 and 5 years old, I won't install them unless something odd happens with the in-box drivers.

Dear Oumay,

Thank you for posting your query to the ASRock forum.

To use the onboard graphics port, kindly use the CPU with the integrated graphics card of the system.

Since 9400f does not have the integrated graphics, the onboard graphics port is not supported.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD
