Hi,

Yes I read it, but due time shift I have your replies quite late my time, but that's OK.

With 4.10 firmware I have interesting finding - after enabling Compatibility Support Mode 5 beeps are gone. System starts without display any time. However if the display was not turned on during POST it will stay in power-save mode until next system power off-on cycle. The PC is accessible over network and reacts correctly on mouse & keyboard. I attached another LCD - the same behave.

I have 2 options to test:
1) I'm using HDMI cable, but maybe it's Display Port the primary port
2) check behave with discrete graphics card

I heard others had success using wICPFLASH instead of wICPFLASHADSB so I gave that a try. Same result unfortunately.
I also turned off all RGB software (iCue, Phillips Hue, etc) before each step.

Intel Motherboards : 2.5G NIC slow transfert speeds

I have an ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming 9 and a Gaming 6.

On both the PCs, with the 2.5G LAN drivers installed I am getting speeds for 40-50MB/s transferring files TO my server. Files are being transferred to Samsung 970 Pro 1TB.

The PCs are connected to Netgear MS510TX switches on the 5G ports. I've also tried the 2.5G and 10G ports on the switch but the speeds are the same.

Tried copying 6 x 1.5GB files, 1 x 10GB file, 1 x 20GB file.

Are there some settings I need to change for the NIC?

I notice the NIC doesn't support Receive Segment Coalescing (RSC), so that's not the cause. I've also tested with Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) enabled and disabled on the switch.

The ASRock boards PCs are running Windows 10 1809. The server is running Windows 2012 R2. CPUs are 9600K and 9700K respectively.

thanks

Hello, is it possible to control 3pin fans on this motherboard via DC so that they don't have to run at full speed 24/7?

That is a little slow, what is the source of the files ? Is it standard SATA HD/SDD, M2 SSD or other ? Double check the cables and make sure they are CAT6a or better on all routes.

Yes most 3 wire fans are controllable when set to DC in BIOS and you have the option to adjust speed. There are some older 3 wire fans that are not controllable (like some LED bulbs are not dimmable). I would try the custom DC settings in BIOS.

According to Anandtech: "Intel has set the PL2 value to 210W. This is essentially the power required to hit the peak turbo on all cores, such as 4.7 GHz on the eight-core Core i9-9900K." PL2 value is "sustained power delivery" so hitting that in a stress test when NOT overclocked should be common with most 9900k. Yours does seem a bit high but there are other factors such as CPU stepping, errata (Intel says Maximum Vcore of Intel Core i9-9900K Processor is 1.52V) and BIOS version to consider. You might want to temporarily set power limit to 210w until you get more info.

Are they connected to the motherboard Chassis Fan connectors ? Are they 3 pin or 4 pin fans? I have both and can see them on main BIOS page and also under Advanced: H/W Monitor (where you can also control them).

I would try the newer drivers listed under Z390 they may be more compatible with the Win 10 1903 version of AUDIODG.EXE. Or if you made a image/backup just go back to your previous Win 10 version.

Your BIOS is socketed not soldered so you may be able to get a new BIOS chip from Asrock support. Go here: http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=5265&title=howto-contact-tech-support
However being near 7 years old it may be more than the BIOS that has gone bad.

Cables are new quality LSZH Cat6A cables, lengths typically 2m-3m between PC and switch. Switch to Switch is fiber optic. Transfer speeds are the same for HDD to HDD, NVMe to NVme. I have no SATA SSDs.

Unplugged and replugged cables. Rebooted PCs and switches.

There are PCs on 10G and they transfer at up to 1000MB/s. Other PCs on 5G transfer at up to 400MB/s. It's only the ASRock boards with the on-board NICs that are having issues.

Hello everyone,,
So im planning to buy the i7 8700 (non K) and i was wondering which motherboard is better. Do i go for the Z370 or the H370? im not interesting on overclocking (thats why i go for the non K) but i would still like use the turbo mode the i7 8700 offers and benefit from it. Can you use the turbo mode to a H370 chipset? Any suggestions on motherboards are welcomed??

Thank you for your reply and useful link, badbri. FWIW I'd be more disappointed than I already am if anything else is bad, considering how I build my systems with superb cooling and the best PSUs protected by 900 watt UPS. Monitoring voltages and temps seems essential to me and my Asrock rarely exceeds 47C though the GPU will hit 56C during heavy loads.

I have many PCs more than twice as old that still run just fine, including a few Socket 7s and even an Asus Slot 1. I'm typing this from the Asrock Z77 right now. It runs just fine. It's just that if it shuts down it can take upwards of an hour to get past the 4F cycling and it isn't the code that is corrupted since it successfully flashed but to no avail. Something must've physically failed in the chip.

Anyway thank you since I'll likely try replacing that chip.

Hello, followed all recommendation; Removed all the USB hub cables, video, keyboard, mouse, power cable, even SRAM 4GB module from socket and the mini-Sata 128MB flash drive, disconnected battery and moved BIOS clear jumper to pins 2-3 overnight.

Reconnected SRAM, Keyboard and power. Power up, clicking DEL on keyboard to bring BIOS setup to screen, still asking password. Several attempts never clear password settings.

I am able to reflash BIOS just as a diagnostic, but I can not find the new flash BIOS code at ASRock website for this particular small machine.

The paper label over the DIP8 BIOS chip shows "IMB-184 - PY/Q87 L1.25A"

I tried HIREM two apps to kill cmos, one said to erase 256 bytes, another said killed was okay, but it still asking password for BIOS setup screens.

This machine has Windows7 Pro installed, we need to clean up and install a clean Windows7/10, but can't get into BIOS to change boot sequence so we can boot from USB pendrive and install new windows into the 128GB flash Sata.

Any help from ASRock will be very much welcome. Thanks.

Dear Rezapci,

Thank you for choosing ASRock.

Do you mean the B250 Pro4?
B250 Pro4 has two M.2 slots support Gen3 x4 and Gen3 x2.

Please make sure your SSD is connected at M2_1 slot which supports Gen3 x4.

Thank you!
