Intel Motherboards : Z930 Extrem4 no post

I am running:

Intel Core i5-9400F
ASRock Motherboard (Z390 EXTREME4)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C16

I am using onboard video and I cannot get it to post. It has been a while since I built a system and had this sort of issue.

As far as I can tell this requires a BIOS update to 2.30 from 1.60 (really pissed it claims out of the box support for 9th gen).

With it not posting, how do I flash it? I read somewhere that I could just load it on the root of a flash drive and it would work. I find that dubious.

My budget does not have wriggle room for buying another CPU just to flash the bios, even temporarily.

Any ides?

Hi,
This post convinced me it can be done, while I was just about to give up!

I bought some thime ago, the Sasung 970 EVO M.2 NVME card. Used it as a 2nd disk (in case it fails). At the same time I flashed my Z77extreme4 with beta 3.00 BIOS. It was running sweet.

I decided to make things NVME bootable at th weekend.
Since I'm rather a linux fan, I'm trying to set things up with use of GRUB at the moment but It's giving me a real head ache (yes, I'm aware of its compat. issues).

After reading your post, I downloaded the 2.90P BIOS. Flashed the board again, downloaded Windows 10 iso, set the ACPI CSM control to DISABLED. Having it done, I'm sure board starts the W10 DVD in UEFI mode. DVD installs okay. During 1st reboot, I entered setup screen and turned the CSM back to ENABLED, rebooted and it finished the W10 install like a charm...

I'm pretty sure, my box can be Tuxified now??;)

Thanks a lot for your post!

PS.
UEFI BOOT panel shows previously missing, Samsung 970 evo and MS boot manager entries.

PS2.
With 3.0 BIOS and grub (EFI-booted from SD card), when I entered grub's built in command prompt and issued 'ls' it showed (hd0)(hd0,gpt1)(hd0,gpt2)(hd1). All hd0* were my SD card entries and hd1 was the NVME. It wasn't able to see any partition on the hd1, though they were there (gpt layout, fat formatted EFI and reiserfs the others).

3.     Try different PCIE slot.
4.     Change another PCIE power connector.

The Intel LAN/VGA/ME/INF/RST Win10 drivers were all updated during the last month, can we possibly get a Thunderbolt 3 driver update for the Z390 boards also? Think there's some Win10 1903/1H19 changes that will need a fresh driver build for... What other driver update resources for the Intel Thunderbolt 3 exist?

Thanks Asrock, appreciate the wonderful mobos you've made over the years!

I finally got the 2 molex power cables. So no I have 3 fans out and 2 fans in. I put the clear tempered glass side panel back on. Checked the temps. CPU is 40C/104F and MB is 33C/91F. I still have the stock cpu & cooler that I want to replace. I hope I never have problems as tech support with this board will be non-existent.

And you have bothered to run the mdstool to ensure you are not vulnerable?
My i7 8086K is completely vulnerable, so 8th gen CPU's are vulnerable too.

I want to know why with the last BIOS updates they removed the setting to enable/disable HPET.
I'm having sound issues with Dolby Digital Live of the Sound Blaster Z and also with Razer Surround Pro.
To fix the issues I need to disable HPET from UEFI, disabling it from Windows is not enough.

Actually my requirements were for small form factor, and considering I am using a single slot GPU and would use the extra lane for m.2, I am the target audience for this board, that is if it truly offers x16 breakout although I don't have much knowledge in this area, hence my posting here.

I bought this board because I needed one GPU and two total m.2's and the on-board thunderbolt was worth it in it's own right. Micro ATX is too large for a PC being used with my TV.

Question still stands, does anyone know what Risers ASRock recommends to use with this board? Since this is a claimed feature I will be pressing until I get some sort of lead lol. Thanks.

Hi!

Asrock j3355m

I install nVidia geforce GT 240 videocard in PCI-Express x16 slot.
Then i change in BIOS "primary graphic card" to PCI-Express instead of Onboard.
Then i connect VGA cable to nVidia VGA output.
When startup, motherboard gives 5 long beeps. Why? Cable is correct connected to nVidia, BIOS changes has been saved.

Hi everyone,

After upgrading to Windows 10 1903 I am seeing that the "Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation" driver aka audiodg.exe stops working. If I uninstall the Realtek driver this no longer occurs.

This seems to happen on boot, but also randomly as it has caused my PC to freeze while watching youtube. I have uploaded links to the Audiodg.exe dump file and a few screenshots.

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AhelPqD8LGcRih1sBwRBif4kXMfO?e=dIPQaQ

I am running the latest Realtek driver that is currently on the Realtek downloads page for the Z370 K6, however I expect an update will be required to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

I would like to use an ASRock Quad Ultra M2 PCIe Card inside an ASRock X99 OC Formula board. Unfortunately it seems the standard BIOS does not support lane bifurcation. But there were posts that a beta BIOS for the X99-ITX once existed that had support. So I wanted to ask if there is some (old?) beta BIOS for the X99 OC Formula, too?
This would be very helpful.
