Just to clarify:

Chipset = Vendor responsibility (AMD/Intel)
BIOS = Partner/Vendor Shared responsibility (ASRock/Gigabyte/MSI/ASUS etc and intel/AMD)
Physical board and power design = Partner responsibility
Drivers = Component supplier responsibility (AMD/Intel/Realtek etc)

So many people come to partner forums (like this one) and blame the board partner for issues that come from literally anywhere else. That said, the board partner does tend to at least try and work out these issues with the pertinent vendor/component provider.

Hang in there guys, these issues will be resolved, either directly by ASRock or by the vendors/component manufacturers responsible.

This is a very picky motherboard. (not mature)
Here is how i overcame the problems. Computer disconectet from lan/wlan install windows

Install drivers from disk in this order

- Intel Wlan
- Intel bluetooth
- ME driver
- Rapid storage > then reboot
- HD audiodriver > then reboot
- Intel lan
- INF driver > then reboot

then i installed Logitech driver > then reboot

installed old pcie driver for Soundblaster AE-5 version: BXAE5_PCDRV_L13_3_2_21_0

connect computer to net install gfx driver.

All fine, hope it helps others with simmilar problems
god luck

Running ASROCK Z370 Killer SLI/AC MOBO and Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8GB) DDR4 SDRAM
MOBO https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16...
Ram https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16...

I cannot get RAM to run in dual channel mode. I have check the QVL list, flashed the latest BIOS, installed it in the proper slots (A2 and B2 for dual channel according to the manual), searched for XMP profile in the BIOS, and nothing so far seems to work. The only thing I haven't tried is removing the CMOS battery or checking the CPU socket because I don't want to risk any damage or have to reapply thermal paste, re-seat cpu, and stuff unnecessarily. It won't even recognize RAM inserted in slots B1 or B2 slots at all. It only ever works in slots A1 AND A2 side-by-side and only posts as SINGLE CHANNEL. Is there an option in the BIOS? Can I run dual-channel from A1 and A2? I don't even get to the BIOS menu when I seat the RAM in either B slot...

Can anyone tell me what is wrong? Is my motherboard defective? Please help. Thank you.

Subject: asrock j3455-mini itx wont boot with 2 DIMMS
Posted: 27 Nov 2018 at 2:32am

Hi,

After struggling for hours trying to make my system boot to bios I discovered the problem is memory. My Motherboard has 2 SO DIMMS each 4GB corsair DDR3 1333. When they are both inserted this happens:
-No video, sometimes blue blocks? visible immediately after powering on and probably BEFORE seeing the bios (which does not come up)
-When there's no video, leaving the system on, the power led blinks approx each 60 secs. Looks like the system retries to start itself
-Sometimes waiting helps, sometimes powering off (press and hold power), reset bios jumper,
...sometimes magic happens and the PC starts booting. When this happens the PC works fine until the next reboot or shutdown/restart.

However, removing a Dimm makes the PC boot without any problems. First I thought it was a faulty DIMM so I tried switching the DIMMS - still no boot problem. Even changing the DIMM slot does not trigger the problem.
So I tried inserting both DIMMS again -> no Boot.

So it looks like the Motherboard does not like 2 Dimms? Is this possible or am I missing a bios setting or jumper setting somewhere?

Thanks
T

Hello,

New motherboard powers on, posts, shows logo and boot select menu then powers down and boots back to logo and boot menu then windows 10 boot manager takes it home to four, 500GB SSDs in RAID0. Question is, why boot twice? Issue with newer, lower CL RAM not on QVL? Issue with OC? Issue with SLI? Windows 10? Secure boot and CSM disabled, All UEFI. Nothing but Graphics in PCIe slots. Ram is in the right slots. All USB, Wifi and LAN ports enabled. Thunderbolt disabled. Fast boot disabled. hibernation in Windows disabled. Nothing in M.2 slots. No weird peripherals, Windows is stable. Posts twice every time.

Ignore sig, different setup.

This: Z390 Phantom9 Bios P1.3, 8700k(4.6Ghz generic OC, cache 4.4Ghz)
Newer G.Skill F4-4000C17-8GTZR x 2 XMP 4000 (No tweaks beyond XMP
because it won't run stable on this board. I could tweak the hell out
of this RAM on the AsRock Fatality Z370 pro gaming K-6, same CPU).
Zotac GTX 1070 ti x 2, AsRock HB SLI bridge. Evga 750 G2 PS. 4 500GB
Mushkin Source SSDs RAID0, Windows 10 pro Ver. 1803 Build 17134.407

Finally just got windows 7 installed and working great! from Samsung 850 to the 970 NVME its quite noticeable very snappy

***only works with 2.90Q Bios firmware*** wouldn't work with 3.00

cant copy my MBR windows 7 partition so had to installed new.

my nLite Win7 usb wasnt bootable by UEFI so used rufus

i put my Samsung Drivers on the usb and when booting pressed F11 until i got boot menu and selected the usb stick with the UEFI heading and started installing.

once that was done i was fully installed in logged in in under 5 minutes
didn't have to change anything in bios settings it all just worked.
even left the usb in during install reboots until it had logged in

I am buying a 9900k and don't need any features from the z390 line and decided to get a z370 and the Extreme4 looks like a good fit for my setup. I am coming from a 4930k which I had to flash the bios with a flash drive in order to fully boot when I bought it, but the board was able to do it with the 4930k installed. If the z370 board doesn't come with the supporting bios pre installed can I do the same with that processor installed and a flash drive? Thanks!

Intel Motherboards : X299 Taichi XE weird Errorcodes during boot

I've bought a X299 Taichi XE and it has an interesting error.

If I plug it in and start it up, most of the time it hangs at boot code 15. If I unplug it - wait 5 secs - and plug it back in, there is a chance of (feeling) 10% that it boots up. It seems, the chance for booting up is 50% if I do a bios reset (with the button on the back) before. At some times it hangs also on boot code 53.

If I switch it off by windows->shut down, it starts up normally. The errors are always when I switch off (or unplug) the power supply.

Any advice or hints?

Intel Motherboards : Brand new J5005-ITX does not boot

Subject: Brand new J5005-ITX does not boot

I thought I'd add my experience with dual channel memory kits for the ASRock J5005-ITX. Like others in this thread have mentioned, G.Skill does the job.

Corsair ValueSelect 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 2133 dual channel kit -> CMSO8GX4M2A2133C15
(NewEgg item number: N82E16820233860)

The Corsair memory was not recognized by the ASRock J5005-ITX in either single or dual channel configurations. The board would do nothing, no video, no hard drive spin-up, no beep codes from the chassis speaker (SPK_CI1). With both memory slots left unpopulated at least I was able to determine that the board was alive from the beep code. My first attempt with this memory was with BIOS firmware version 1.0. I later updated the BIOS firmware to version 1.40 and tried the Corsair memory a second time. The memory was still not detected by the J5005-ITX.

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 2400 dual channel kit -> F4-2400C16D-8GRS
(NewEgg item number: N82E16820232152)

The G.Skill memory was recognized by the ASRock J5005-ITX in the dual channel configuration. Initially I thought the memory was not recognized by the board because it felt like it took an unusually long period of time for the memory to be detected (maybe five seconds, possibly a bit longer). During this detection period the board appeared to be unresponsive, but eventually there were signs of life. Once the memory was detected I was able to enter the BIOS and saw both sticks of memory were present and operating in dual channel mode. I then ran an extensive set of memory tests using Memtest86+ and no errors were reported.

I thought it was odd that the Corsair memory did not work since it is reported to be compatible by the ASRock memory QVL for this board. I also noticed that the Corsair dual channel kit I purchased was the exact dual channel memory kit used for the ASRock J5005-ITX review posted on the AndroidPcTv.com web site.

I wonder if this lack of memory compatibility is an unfortunate characteristic of the Intel J5005 Gemini Lake SoC rather than a problem specific to the ASRock J5005-ITX. Reading a nucblog.net review of the Intel NUC7PJYH, a small form factor board using the J5005 Gemini Lake SoC, it is mentioned that the board had problems with different memory sticks. The author didn't appear to do extensive testing, but they did isolate the problem to DDR4 2400 memory sticks where the CAS latency was less than 16.

intersting part to me is that he got the same error code "65" with the same symptom, ie no display on the monitor
