Well, I checked BIOS settings, and the only thing that was not on/auto (in terms of power settings) was "C State Package", so I turned that on.

Win10 will still just cycle when going to sleep. powercfg /sleepstudy shows the win api requesting sleep (me using sleep selection from power menu in OS), and the exit reason is "usb", presumably my wireless keyboard/mouse (i have no other usb), but, I do not touch keyboard or mouse, the system appears to go down into sleep but then immediately power cycles and comes out of sleep right back to win10 login.

Or, what might be happening is, the power cycle I see happens after the USB wake event, hence sleep --> usb event to wake --> power cycle --> win10 login page. I am however not giving input anywhere to cause a wake event.

I suspect this is a win10 issue, but I cannot find where.

It looks like the cmos battery and jumper is right under the video card judging by the manual and picture. That means I can't clear it unless I remove my video card? The reason I want to clear it is when overclocking and it doesn't post I have to clear cmos right? Is there an easy way around this or does it mean I can't easily overclock on this motherboard since it's so hard to clear cmos?

Built this mobo some weeks back. Worked all fine till yesterday. Can't boot the pc no more: the leds on the mobo turn yellow/ green, then into blinking blue. Fans don't react: all silence but blinking blue leds. Turning off/on psu doesn't help.

Before i noticed 2 of the 8 sata connectors didn't work anymore. W10 + i5-9600 + bios v 3.30 settings are on default.
What is posibly going on?

I think I found the issue.

While playing around with a "sleep" shortcut (using rundll) I had turned off hibernate. Interestingly enough if hibernate is turned off the sleep mode will do a sleep-wake w/o user input.

So, I reset my hibernate using powercfg

POWERCFG /HIBERNATE ON
POWERCFG /HIBERNATE /SIZE 0
POWERCFG /HIBERNATE /TYPE REDUCED

Now when I select sleep the system does a sleep --> off. I am not sure if this state is an actual sleep or hibernate because I hear a load relay click and the case fans (that have led's) turn off. When I wake the system it returns to login screen very very fast, but, my system uses all very fast SSD drives, so it's hard to say if its waking from a sleep or waking from hiberfil.sys. From MS docs resuming from a hiberfil would look like a normal boot but then returns to last state, but I do not see a normal boot, so perhaps it is waking from stateful powered RAM.

This "fast start" feature is only visible when hibernate is on. It appears to be needed to have a successful sleep w/o auto-wake.

Open Control Panel.
Go to the following item: Hardware and Sound\Power Options.
On the left, click "Choose what the power buttons do":
Click the "Change Settings that are currently unavailable" link.

When hibernate is on this "fast startup" feature is available. It appears to be needed to allow the system to do an actual sleep w/o auto-waking. This perhaps is a bug in OS, or, perhaps a feature of Win10-Prof (perhaps it wants to protect itself from losing state if the power is completely lost).

Hey guys, hey! Text wall, trying to give as much info, scroll to bottom for TLDR.

System Specs:
Case: Corsair Carbide 400C
MOBO: ASRock Taichi Z390 (BIOS 1.2 -> BIOS 1.8)
CPU: Intel i9 9900K (Stock)
GPU: Zotac RTX 2080 Ti AMP (stock)
PSU: Corsair HX 850i
RAM: 4x8GB DDR4 Corsair Dominator 2800mhz (XMP 1 profile)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i + 2xCorsair AF140s (temporary)
M.2: 2x Samsung EVO series M.2 drives (512GB NVMe for OS/1TB SATA for Games)

Accessories:
Corsair K95 RGB Platinum keyboard
Corsair Glaive mouse
Corsair Void Pro Headset
Corsair RGB Mousepad
Corsair ST100 Headphone stand
Logitech Z 2300 speakers

Issue: High pitch static/buzzing when using rear audio connector on my Logitech Z 2300's if volume knob exceeds 20-25%, constant high pitch noises even when idle from PC, discovered something things while trying to trouble shoot regarding LEDs and whining noises.

I really like the look of the Taichi and it got good reviews, especially the audio quality, so I was looking forward to setting up my rig and ditching my Creative Soundblaster Z (it was getting old and was having constant driver issues).

My case is small, and eventually everything will be put on custom water loop (prior system was i7 8700K @ 5.1ghz w/ GTX 1080 Ti @ +150/500) so I'm not too concerned with heat (as of now).

I put everything together and just wanted to test everything out. Beside the noises, everything else seems to work fine with stock settings. No random boots, or GPU issues (from what I've read of the RTX series), nothing out of the ordinary.

Things I've noticed:
The noises from using the rear audio jack increase when the CPU loads more, ie tons of noise for example if power profile set to high performance versus power saver, or opening up programs and dragging them around the desktop.
There is a constant humming come from the PC, at first assumed it was bad fan, but with everything removed and using IGP and just keyboard, issue persisted, even in BIOS. I found that disabling the LEDs stopped this faint humming sound completely.
Using any other sound option I have (GPU via DP, USB Audio on ST100 headphone stand, or even plugging in my Creative Soundblaster Z) eliminates the noise. I don't use the front jacks on my case (removed the cable) so I can't test those (have read online eliminates issue as well). I'm currently using my ST100 USB audio option in the interim.

Things I've tried:
Assuming it's a power related issue, I've stripped everything down to barebones, 1x stick of RAM, IGP for video, only keyboard connected to USB ports, and pump+2xFans powered - noises persist.
BIOS options (flashed to newest, board came with 1.2 saw initial issues, flashed to 1.8, same issues) tweaking such as anything related to power (speed spectrum, voltages, line calib, etc) this is where I learned that disabling the LEDs stopped the constant humming (one problem solved, but I like the LEDs :( ) - noises from rear audio jacks persisted.
I tried a different PSU, wiring everything else to it - noises persist.
I tried using different power outlets (one for PC one for speakers) - noises persist.
I tried using different speakers, all speakers I tried - noises persist.
I hooked up my speakers to my wife's computer to see if my speakers were damaged - no issue, speakers had no hum outside of normal noise from being at 100% volume.
I assumed it was faulty board, so I swapped it with a new one (burned my warranty :( ) - noises persist on new board same as previous.

Things I will try in the next few days:
I got both boards from my local Microcenter, both had the same 1.2 bios so I assume possibly same batch, and thus possibly bad batch. So I ordered a new one from Amazon hoping third board will be better (or have different noises/issues etc). When I get the new board I'm going to rule out any grounding issues with my case (though previous builds have had zero issue, prior builds in this case were ASRock X99 + i7 6800K and MSI Z370 + i7 8700K, though I used my Soundblaster for those so can't rule out grounding issue out). I will setup the current board on a box, if issues persist, will swap with new board and pray no issues, if no issues install and pray for no further issues.

TL;DR: Excited to build my Z390 Taichi system only to find product breaking noises. Constant humming (resolved if I disable LEDs which I'd rather not), and back audio port (green) is basically useless if I set my speaker volume knob >20-25% as all I will hear is static, screeching, and buzzing. I've tried the usual troubleshoot steps and even swapped it with a new board. I have a third board on route and if issues continue I will just go with another brand/board.

Only things I've yet to do (but will once I get third board) is build setup barebones on box to avoid any grounding issues and clean install of OS (since this was suppose to be a parts test as I will put everything under water and then format system).

If anyone has run into a similar issue with this board, or any other, any solutions tips would be appreciated. Scouring Google I got a few hits of people having the same issue with no resolutions posted, so assuming it isn't widespread and thus possibly bad batch of boards. Third board will rule this out.

Thanks for now.

Additional info: we disconnected the battery, reset 'Clear CMOS Jumper' (CLRMOS1) on the mobo, all didn't help.
Just nothing is happening: screen isn't wakening so no bios or whatever, cpu doesn't start etc, only slow blinking blue mobo leds on 'purity sound'and the block ASRock next to the sata connectors.
It seems broken but nonetheless there is some light...
Please help

Ok, all that said and it's not right.

I use a single wireless USB for both keyboard and mouse. It is this device that keeps causing the system to wake right after system sleeps. If I sleep the system and remove USB radio immediately then everything works just fine, it stays sleeping. With the USB radio connected it's hit or miss with waking right after sleep.

So, as of now I have no idea if the hibernate changes made a diff of not, but I do know it was on to start with, I had then turned it off, and then turned it back on.

It was driving me nuts.

I've got a Taichi z390 Ultimate, and I'm trying to use the "launch EFI shell from filesystem device" option, but I can't get it to work. Always, "Not Found". I've put the shell I downloaded from the EDK2 in the root of the EFI system partition, named it both "Shell.efi" and "Shellx64.efi", then copied it to the \EFI directory as well as EFI\Boot.

Also, I've put in on the root of a FAT32 formatted USB stick under both names. No matter what, "Not Found" is always the result.

I'm sure I'm doing something really stupid, something really simple I'm not thinking about. Just where is the UEFI shell file supposed to be and under what name?

Hello ASRock Forum,

thanks agin a lot for helping me out with my question regarding the M.2 drive.

I assembled the parts today very carefully, but however, the GPU output is not working. The CPU (boxed cooler) and the housing fans run, but I do not get a display signal and so I am not able to access the BIOS. The PC did not send any accoustic signal.
I checked it using the VGA-Port and also HDMI. There is no dedicated GPU installed, I wanted to use the onboard GPU, as I also do on my old ASRock driven PC.
Probably, I chose the wrong memory which I installed in slots A1 and B1. Probably DDR4-3200 is to far off from the normal specs. I thought, they would be backward compatible.

My setup:
- ASRock H370 Pro4 Intel H370 So.1151 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX
- Intel Core i5 8600 6x 3.10GHz So. 1151 BOX
- 32GB (2x 16384MB) G.Skill RipJaws V black DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16-18-18-38 Dual Kit
- 500GB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 32Gb/s 3D-NAND TLC (MZ-V7E500BW)
- 2000GB WD Blue WD20EZRZ 5.400U/min 64MB 3.5" (8.9cm) SATA 6Gb/s (not yet installed)
- 450 Watt be quiet! Straight Power 11 Modular 80+ Gold
- be quiet! Pure Base 600 Midi Tower

Photo attached. Cable management will be done later.

Any hints would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I just did this update and I noticed that the option for Multi core Enhancement is no longer there. Can anyone confirm this? I flashed through windows and I've noticed MCE behavior when I don't really want that. I was going to tweak my OC but it's in AUTO on pretty much everything with XMP on until I figure out where the setting to control that is before I tune a new OC profile.

So I've been blessed/cursed with an i7-8086k from the Intel sweepstakes but I don't have a motherboard/cooler/RAM/power supply/hard drive/case to use it with. What motherboard should I use with this thing? Also, is it worth waiting a few weeks for Z390 motherboards to come out?

Hi, I recently bought an i7 8700 and I read that you need a z370 motherboard for it. I have a PRIME H270M-PLUS. Is it compatible? it has 1151 socket. If it is compatible what are the disadvantages? If not what is the cheapest motherboard I could get? If my motherboard doesnt support i7 8700 im planning on buying a Msi Z370-a Pro. What are your thoughts on that motherboard?

I'm not planning on overclocking

No, 8th gen CPUs are not compatible with 200 series boards. You will need a 300 series board to support the 8700, if it is the non K variant then you can even get away with a B360, I would not recommend an H310 however, the power delivery on the lowest tier boards is not ideal for 6 core/12 thread CPUs, it would work but you risk overloading the VRMs.

So, to answer your question, this is the cheapest board I would recommend for your use:
Cheapest: https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/B360%20Pro4/index.asp

Anything cheaper than a mid-tier B360 will potentially cause you problems with longevity and temps. As for the MSI board, this is the ASRock community forum, why post here if you don't own or plan to own an ASRock product? That said, I recommend the above board because of it's price/value, not just because this is the ASRock forum.

Never mind -- it was something stupid. Something really stupid. On that Github EDK2 folder tree, I ended up downloading an HTML file, which did the actual download, not the file.

Anyway, I've got the correct shell binary and it works like a charm.
