Thanks for the report! Thumbs Up

So much for Skylake memory issues. BUT I would caution that your experience with two kits of memory, which have sequential serial numbers, may not be the same for users in the future. You were very lucky to get the two kits that you did, even when buying them at the same time. IMO, you cannot state that your experience will be the same for others as time passes.

Your memory, Ripjaws 5, is designed for Skylake systems. We are seeing some issues with DDR4 memory that was released for X99 systems, not automatically working perfectly with Skylake systems.

For example, G.SKILL does not have the DDR4 Ripjaws 4 memory verified for use with Skylake, that was released for X99. I think there are differences in the XMP data between X99 and Skylake that will require manual adjustment of the VCCSA and VCCIO voltages. But that alone may not guarantee compatibility in all cases.

DDR4 is a new memory type and is only usable with two PC platforms at this time, X99 and Skylake. Issues with memory compatibility are always possible with new technology.

The Windows 10 licensing situation changed from MSofts original offering. You are right that it will work as you described, I did that myself recently. Note that this change is called a Digital entitlement by MSoft, and does not provide a new licensing key to the user.

The full description of how this works can be found here:

Regarding the OC level of the i7-6700K, that will be at the mercy of the silicon lottery, the luck of the draw of the processor you have. Geek

We have a user here that can boot his Z170 Extreme7+ at 5.1GHz with the VCore at the maximum standard VID of 1.512V. Not sure what the actual VCore is. Temperature has not been the limiting factor for Skylake over clocks, with appropriate cooling of course.

Questions? Yes, I still don't know what you are using as your OS drive, or if you installed Win 10 in UEFI mode. Pinch
