Wow, sorry to hear that!
While I don't understand the point of starting the PC without the power cable connected to the GPU, or if that is even appropriate to do, but without having that PC in front of me to look at, I can't figure out what's going on.
If you can, get the board replaced, although I cannot say that the board is the problem.

![]() That is correct. Without the 8 pin attached the computer starts up, fans spinning, etc., however no video. With it plugged in no power at all. Check all the stand offs and they are in the proper location, doesn't appear to be any short. Case is new (Corsair 450D) Went a bought a third PSU just to double check and still same problem. However... On one of the latests attempts (without the 8 pin connected to the GPU) sparks and smoke shot out of the 8 pin port on the GPU. Now the card is fried and the rig still isn't working properly. |
