Glad you figured it out. Personally, I think it is a good idea to clear the UEFI/BIOS after any change in hardware in a PC.
I must say (controversially) we should remember that the problems occurred on a brand new build, before an OS was installed. That's two things, a new, unused system that has never booted an OS.
I know, how do drivers and software influence anything before an OS is running? Think back to your PC builds with a new, unused mother board, CPU, etc, before you install an OS for the first time. Isn't that the situation when things like keyboards and mice barely work? You might even need to use an old PS2 keyboard and simple wired mouse when using the UEFI/BIOS for the first time. I've had to do that with even the newest mother boards I have.
Then think about the same PC, when you installed your OS over again, on a new drive, or a new version of Windows, on an empty drive. Did you need to use the PS2 keyboard again, and the wired mouse? Sometimes yes, but other times not, at least in my experience.
IMO, it seems that a "virgin" system is always the least cooperative, and that changes after it has been fully established at least once. I have a few ideas why that is true, but don't know enough about it to be certain.

Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view. ![]() Thanks for your replies. I figured it out, but I'm not sure if it was coincidence or what... I've reset the CMOS, like I did several times before. But this time I didn't restart the computer without the SATA cables connected. I connected everything, did the reset, and restarted... and voilá! The BIOS starter up showing my 2 drives (SDD and DVD). The same thing happened with the video card (GTX 750ti). After the SATA "saga", I was facing the same problem after adding the video card to the motherboard. But I did the same... Attached everything, reset CMOS, and the video card started working. I don't know if this makes sense, but it looks like the Motherboard has to be reset whenever I connect new hardware... weird, but it works. I've now installed win10 and everything's fine. Thanks of your ideas and suggestion, Regards Bruno |
